I have a confession to make; I, on occasion, have felt a little demotivated.
Yes, I, ‘Motivationdoc,’ feel a bit lacking in motivation and self-belief from time to time, just like everybody else.
So, here comes the tips and something that works for me:
Spend time with positive people.
Most Saturdays, when I’m in the UK, I have lunch with five of my really good friends. They’re always interested in what I’m doing, really supportive and they really make me laugh! When I leave them, I feel much better and more motivated than I did before we met.
I like to think that I do the same for them, and that’s the secret to receiving support and motivation from others.
Hand out some Warm Glows.
Help other people feel better about themselves; build their self-belief and that in turn will build your self-belief and motivate you.
If you help other people to love themselves, then they will love you!
Believe in yourself
I remember reading in the newspapers some years ago that Richard Branson, the entrepreneur, was going to start an airline. I knew he had been successful in other areas of business, but starting an airline seemed a mammoth task to me. He was going into competition with the worlds’ largest airlines that had been in the business for years. I didn’t believe he had a chance. However, Richard leased his first aeroplane, started Virgin Atlantic and as you know, the rest is history.
Step out of your comfort zone and take a risk
Sir Richard Branson is not a particularly well educated person in terms of academic qualifications, however, he has belief in himself and what he’s doing, and he’s prepared to take a risk. These are some of the qualities that motivate him and drive him forward.
So, spend time with positive people. Step out of your comfort zone, take risks, and believe in yourself!
