Treat People the Way You Expect to Be Treated is Twaddle

Have you heard people saying – ‘I treat people the way I expect to be treated.’Emperor Penguins meeting Adelie Penguin in Antarctica

I hear this all the time, and its baloney! If you want to have good rapport with other people, be they customers, colleagues, family or friends; treat them the way they want to be treated.

Spend time with them, get to know them, listen to them, watch them, and understand them. They may have similar thoughts and viewpoints as you have, but they’re all different.

You might like someone to give you a big hug every time you meet them; other people may not.

You may like people to ask you about what’s happening in your life; others may not.

You may prefer to keep yourself to yourself; others may not.

Many of us would love to think that everyone sees the world as we do; sorry – they don’t!

Try and see it as they see it, and you’ll have better relationships, more friends, and less stress.
